A Four-Session Interactive Training Series

This four-session workshop is designed for voice actors, podcasters, musicians, and content creators who want to record, edit, mix, and deliver cleaner, more professional audio—without getting buried in confusing jargon or unnecessary plug-in overload.

The workshop will meet Wednesday evenings at 6 p.m. Central, beginning August 19 and continuing through September 9. Each session will be one hour.

Session One: Introduction to Adobe Audition and Recording Gear

Instructors: Rob Marley and Terry Daniel

Learn the fundamentals of recording, editing, audio cleanup, processing, and exporting in Adobe Audition. We’ll also cover microphones, audio interfaces, headphones, studio monitors, cables, and the essential gear needed to create a dependable recording setup without overspending.

Session Two: Pro Tools Essentials

Instructor: Mike Elmore

Explore the Pro Tools workflow, including recording, editing, plug-ins, routing, mixing, and organizing your sessions. Whether you’re new to Pro Tools or simply want a better understanding of how it works, this session will help make the program feel less intimidating and much more practical.

Session Three: Audacity from the Ground Up

Instructor: Mike Dee

Discover how to get professional results from this powerful free DAW. This session will cover recording, editing, audio cleanup, EQ, compression, noise reduction, and properly exporting your finished audio.

Session Four: Advanced Adobe Audition, Room Treatment and Twisted Wave

Instructors: Rob Marley, Terry Daniel, and Jim Edgar

Take your Adobe Audition skills further with multitrack mixing, buses, sends, automation, music and sound effects, mastering, loudness, and more advanced production techniques. We’ll also cover practical room treatment, including reflections, outside noise, microphone placement, acoustic panels, and affordable ways to improve your recording space. Also, Jim Edgar will show us how to use TwistedWave, another user-friendly audio recording and editing program that works especially well for voice actors!

Final Thoughts

Although the demonstrations will feature Adobe Audition, Pro Tools, and Audacity, many of the audio principles and techniques can be applied to nearly any DAW. Expect practical demonstrations, real-world examples, plenty of opportunities to ask questions, and a few laughs along the way.

Workshop Tuition

The fee for the complete four-session workshop is $175 per person. Your registration includes all four live, one-hour sessions and the recordings.
