What NOT to Say to Casting Directors & Agents

1. “Wow, that rate is really low.”

I get it. We’ve all seen some questionable rates. But commentary isn’t your job here. If it doesn’t work for you, pass. Quietly. Professionals don’t complain—they choose.

2. “How do I submit?”

If there are no instructions, fair question. If there are instructions and you missed them? That’s on you. Agents are slammed. They don’t have time to babysit—and ignoring directions is a fast track to the exits.

3. “I’m not reading the whole script—it’s just an audition.”

Oof. That’s a quick exit. Give them what they asked for. This isn’t about effort—it’s about trust. And no, legit clients aren’t stealing your audition audio. That only happens on Fiverr!

4. “I’m on Fiverr, why can’t I be on your roster too?”

Look, you might not agree with their policy—and that’s fair. But it’s their roster, their rules. You don’t have to like it… but you do have to respect it if you want in.

5. “Just checking in on my audition…”

This one drives agents nuts. If you book it, you’ll know. Following up too soon (or too often) doesn’t make you look eager—it makes you look inexperienced.

Bottom line: Be easy to work with. Follow directions. Keep your ego in check. Talent gets you in the room…Professionalism keeps you there.
